Team CJGA - Curacao

Willemstad, Curacao (April 6, 2016) – The Canadian Junior Golf Association (CJGA) and three top juniors from the 2015 CJGA National Order of Merit presented by Core Golf Academy have assembled on the island of Curacao to participate in the 10th annual MCB Curacao Masters. The event will take place April 7 thru 9 on the three island courses – Old Quarry GC, Emmastad GC and Blue Bay Golf.

Ty Celone (Long Sault, Ontario), Thomas Giroux (Georgetown, ON), and Sean Trapp (Janetville, ON) will represent the CJGA in Curacao after finishing at the top of the national order of merit in 2015

The team will play the ‘Team Championship’ as Team CJGA and will also get the chance to contend for the amateur golf title (Top Amateur Championship). Last year, CJGA’s Charles Thompson of Delta, BC finished runner-up in the amateur competition.

Named after the Plantation’s 19th century limestone quarry, Old Quarry Golf Course is a championship seaside layout designed to fit seamlessly into the land’s hills and valleys.

A challenge to players of all skill levels, the course meanders between the stunning blue Caribbean Sea, the slopes and hills of Tafelberg Mountain and the sheltered bay known as Spanish Water. The course opened in April 2010 and was designed by famous golf course designer Pete Dye.

The Curacao Golf & Squash Club Emmastad is a small club with approximately 600 members. The golf course consists of 18-holes with a par 70, 10 greens that are set in a brilliant oasis of tranquility, rare trees, bushes, birds (wild doves and parrots) and reptiles (iguanas).

At first, Blue Bay’s golf course will seduce you purely with its astonishing appearance. The course is located right at the Caribbean Sea, providing guests with spectacular views and possesses a beautiful tropical environment along the fairways. Blue Bay Curacao owes the amazing golf course to designer William “Rocky” Rocquemore who took full advantage of the natural surroundings. Elevation changes, rocks, sand and seas are all part of the Blue Bay Golf experience.

Andrew Jensen and 2015 PGA of Canada Player of the year, Danny King are the Canadian professionals that will lead the charge in Curacao. King is also sits on the CJGA Board of Directors.

About Blue Bay Curacao Golf & Beach Resort

On your way to the golf course you hear a rustling sound. A bright green iguana emerges from the grass. You remain motionless, admiring the rich colors of this pre-historic creature. On sensing that it is not alone, the iguana raises itself high on its paws and quickly disappears in the shrubs. You continue walking towards the golf course, where you and your neighbor plan to play a relaxing round. Will you succeed this time in conquering that notorious water hazard at hole five?

Blue Bay is the most versatile resort in Curacao, where the residential and vacation destination combine harmoniously. Its major assets include its central location at Curacao’s Southern coast, its breathtaking sea views and a varied landscape where you can meet tropical animals in the wild. And if you consider the many facilities that include the beautiful and lively beach, the restaurants and bars and the unique 18-hole golf court along the sea, you will understand that this is an attractive residential and vacation venue in sunny Curacao.

Meet and mingle
The vision behind the Blue Bay concept is, that both permanent residents and vacationers should have a great time. This is why the residential and holiday accommodations are located in different parts of the resort. The binding elements are the facilities like the beach, the golf course and the tennis courts, where people meet and mingle in a relaxed atmosphere.
Vacationers enjoy the freedom of their own luxury apartment or villa and the use of the pools, combined with typical hotel amenities such as a linen service, cleaning and room service.
Many of the house owners are former vacationers who chose to settle down in Blue Bay. Blue Bay is also popular with second homeowners. The real estate offering in Blue Bay is remarkably varied and includes villas and apartments as well as an ample selection of construction plots. For some of the apartments and villas a hotel formula applies, enabling you to earn back your investment under attractive conditions.
