~Over 100 players will compete in final major domestic junior championship of the season~

Welland, Ontario (August 26, 2019) – The CJGA’s Mizuno National Junior Championship is ready to get started this week on the Heron course at Cardinal Lakes Golf Club in Welland, Ontario. The final domestic major championship on the CJGA’s 2019 tournament schedule, The Mizuno National Junior Championship will see over 100 players compete over the course of four days as they try to put their name on the National Championship trophy along side the likes of Brooke Henderson. 2019 marks the 22^nd annual hosting of the championship.

The tournament format is modeled after the professional tours and features a 54-hole stroke play competition with a cut made after the initial two rounds of play. The format is intended to provide the same competitive experience that players will encounter as they progress up the ranks and compete in top amateur, collegiate and professional competitions in the future. The 54-hole format also helps to ensure that only the best players take home the championship trophy, by having to maintain consistent play over a long week. Players will compete across two separate age divisions with both (U19) and (U15) divisions for both Boys & Girls.

This year’s host facility is the Cardinal Lakes Golf Club located in Welland, Ontario and should prove to be a fair yet challenging test for the participants. Player will have to navigate the marshland design of the Heron course, which puts an emphasis on shot position as players must avoid the numerous penalty areas and fescues as they make their way around the course.

This years championship field will see 106 players from Alberta, British Columbia, New York, Nova Scotia, Ontario and the Bahamas competing. Play begins tomorrow, August 27, 2019 at 7:30 am.
