London, ON (August 24th, 2017) – The third round of the 2017 CJGA Mizuno National Championship concluded Thursday afternoon. The weather was cooler than yesterday but was still perfect conditions for the juniors. There was a short spell of rain during the early afternoon but nothing to effect the conditions of the course. It was moving day as juniors jockeyed for position to make a run at the championship trophy on Friday afternoon. One of the biggest moves of the day was in the Junior Boys division as Cade Preston from Hillsdale, ON who shot a two under round of 70 to move up the leaderboard to the top fifteen.

Junior Boys U19

Ryan Neil of North Bay, ON extended his lead to 13-strokes after another dominant performance in round three. His round got off to hot start after a chip-in birdie on the first hole. He finished with a 4-under par 68 to head into the final round at -9. Max Dragon from Ottawa, ON has been nothing but consistent as he currently sits in second place at 2-over par. He is looking to get into the red tomorrow to finish off the tournament strong. Jeffrey Fang of Newmarket, ON, Brendan Dunphy from Whitby, ON, and Jonathan Cramton of Toronto, ON are tied for third place and look to make a push tomorrow.

Junior Girls U19

Tiana Cruz of Richmond Hill, ON continued to dominate the Junior Girls division after a division low round of 73 on Thursday. Cruz’s three day total of 230 comfortably gives her a thirteen shot lead entering the final round. She was able to bounce back after her second round 80 after she worked on her irons on the range after the round. Vaijayanti Bharkhada from Brampton, ON had a third round 81 to give her a three day total of 243. Entering the final round in third place is Catherine Zhang from Toronto, ON after she shot an 85.

Bantam Boys U15

Dayton Price of Mississauga, ON enters the final round as the leader in the Bantam Boys division. Price shot a one over par 73 during his third round to give himself a three day total of 233 which gives him a one shot lead over the field. Dayton has been looking forward to the CJGA Mizuno National Championship all summer and it would be a dream come true for him if he could hoist the trophy Friday afternoon. Jordan Dumont from Blainville, QC had a third round 78 to give him a three day total of 234 just one shot off Price’s pace. Tied for second place, just one shot behind the lead is Tommy McKenzie of Calgary, AB. McKenzie matched Price’s round of 73 today as the daily low.

Bantam Girls U15

Burlington’s own Sarah Gallagher continued to build on her second round lead after posting an 83 during her third round. Gallagher’s 83 was the lowest score posted in the division on Thursday. Sarah will enter the final round with a seven stroke lead. Coming into the final round in second place is Rozlyn Rooke of Milton, ON. Rooke’s putter was really hot today and it helped her saved some pars and even make a birdie. Rozlyn shot 84 in the third round which is her lowest round of the tournament. Rounding out the top three in the division is Calista Zeng of Maple, ON who had a 92 in the third round.
