Surrey, BC. (October 11, 2016) – Over the Thanksgiving weekend, the Canadian Junior Golf Association continued its BC Fall Series at Morgan Creek golf course. Junior golfers braved wet conditions for a chance to earn a division title. Ultimately, Mitchell Thiessen, Susan Xiao, Peter Zhang, Bill Xu and Emma Yang came out on top.

Junior Boys (U19)

Mitchell Thiessen, 17, from Chilliwack, BC, was the winner of the Junior Boys division. Thiessen made an incredible comeback on the second day of competition, improving by 9 strokes. Thiessen posted rounds of 81 (+9), 72 (E), for a two-day total of 153 (+9).

Taking second place was Nicolas Miu, 17, from Richmond, BC. Miu finished just 3 strokes behind the leader posting rounds of, 79 (+7), 77 (+5) for a two-day total of 156.

Junior Girls (U19)

Taking first place in the Junior Girls division was Susan Xiao. The 14 year old from Surrey, BC, shot the lowest round of the entire competition, despite less than favourable weather conditions. Xiao put herself in a good position early on in the competition, with a round that included an eagle on hole 10. Xiao posted low rounds of 72 (-1), 73 (E), for a two-day total of 145 (-1).

Angel Lin, 13, from Surrey, BC, finished the competition in second place. Zhao posted rounds of 83, 79 (+6) for a two-day total of 162.

Juvenile Boys (U17)

Peter Zhang, 15, from Surrey, BC, was the winner of the Juvenile Boys division. On the second round of competition, Zhang made an eagle on hole 17, in addition to making 5 birdies over the course of two rounds. Zhang posted rounds of 73 (+1), 73 (+1), for a two-day total of 146 (+2).

Following closely behind the winner was Jackson Jacob. The 15 year old from Fort Langley, BC gave a great performance over the weekend, posting rounds of 79 (+7), 74 (+2) for a two-day total of 153 (+9).

Bantam Boys (U15)

The winner of the Bantam Boys division was Bill Xu. The 13 year old from Vancouver, BC gave two solid performances to take first place, despite the wet weather. Xu posted rounds of 76 (+4), 82 for a two-day total of 158.

Jayden Piao, 12, from Coquitlam, BC finished the tournament in second place. Piao posted rounds of 88, 95, for a two-day total of 183.
Bantam Girls (U15)

Emma Yang, 13, from Langley, BC, was the winner of the Bantam Girls division. Yang pulled away from the pack early on in the competition and could not be caught. Yang posted rounds of 78 (+5), 81, for at two-day total of 159.

Taking the second place position was Rachel Chung, 14, from Abbotsford, BC. Chung improved by an impressive 6 strokes after the second round of competition. Chung posted rounds of 91, 85, for a two-day total of 176.
