North York, ON – (May 29, 2019) – The Canadian Junior Golf Association (CJGA) is pleased to announce the launch of a new ‘grow the game’ initiative, the First Swing, presented by Golf Town.

The Canadian Junior Golf Association’s First Swing Program is designed to engage and encourage participation in the game of golf.  An entry level program to introduce new kids into the game, the First Swing program breaks away the barriers of the sports myths and enables easy entry into the sport for girls and boys looking to take up the game.  The First Swing Program will not only provide an introduction to golf, but provide our youth with a fun and enjoyable experience.

The goal of the First Swing Program is to grow the game of golf across Canada by making it more accessible, affordable, safe, and most importantly, FUN for junior golfers!

“We are so delighted to launch this new program with Golf Town in markets across the country,” said Brad Parkins, COO of the CJGA.  “In an effort to break down barriers of entry and expose the game of golf to new participants, I could not be happier to have this day come.  Golf is a game that does so many positive things for people, and being able to expose this game and all its benefits to new participants is remarkable.”

The partnership with Golf Town to launch the First Swing program is a natural fit, as the largest speciality golf retailer in Canada continues to focus on ways to invest in growing the game.

“Growing the game is a priority, not only for Golf Town, but for the health of the game across the country,” said Chad McKinnon, President of Golf Town.  “Golf Town athletes and junior golf ambassadors like Brooke Henderson groomed their skills at a young age through the CJGA program, and the First Swing program is a great opportunity for new, aspiring junior golfers to join golf.”
