North York, Ontario (March 21, 2019) The Canadian Junior Golf Association (CJGA) is set to kick-off the 27th season this weekend at University Golf Club in Vancouver, B.C. After snow prevented the season opener at Bear Mountain to be rescheduled to a later date, the season will finally get underway with the Gary Gilchrist Golf Academy BC Spring Classic.
The start of the season signals the beginning of the GOLFTEC CJGA National Order of Merit, presented by TaylorMade. Mirrored after the PGA TOUR’s FedEx Cup, the GOLFTEC CJGA National Order of Merit presented by TaylorMade is comprised of the entire tournament schedule where juniors compete nationally in their respective age divisions. Tiered events on a national scope provide equal opportunity for juniors to accumulate points. Events are tiered based on field size, strength of field, and length of competition to name a few.
Juniors should have favorable conditions to kick-off their season as weather conditions are currently forecasted to fall between 7 and 10 degrees with limited cloud.
Having been around since 1929, University Golf Club is a traditional golf course with long, narrow fairways and towering old growth trees. It is only minutes away from the city but it feels like you’re in the country and away from it all. The golf course is accessible to all levels of players and can be walked or driven at your leisure.
Schedule of Events:
March 23 – First Round – 11:00am – 1:30pm
March 24 – Final Round – 11:00am – 1:30pm
