~Luke Quanson & Michelle Liu Lead Bantam Boys & Bantam Girls Divisions~
Surrey, B.C. (Wednesday March 22, 2018) – Sunny skies, warm temperatures and weak winds on day one at Northview Golf Club led to some great scoring conditions for participants during round one of the CJGA’s Humber College PGM Championship presented by Taylormade & Performance Lab. Ninety-Eight players teed it up on what turned out to be a great day for March golf in the lower mainland.
Sylvan Lake, Alberta’s Carter Graf cruised to an opening round six-under-par (66), that featured six birdies and 12 pars on the round. Starting on the back nine Graf birdied his first & ninth hole making the turn in two-under-par. He picked up four more birdies on his back nine to finish the day at the top of the leaderboard with a two-shot cushion over Cole Wilson of Kelowna, B.C. and William Tindle of Coquitlam, B.C. who each shot 68 in round one.
The scores in the Junior Girls Division were also reflective of the great scoring conditions and great talents of these junior players with Euna Han who tied Graf for low round of the day. Han posted her own six-under-par (66) that featured seven birdies, one bogey and 10 pars over the course of the day. The Coquitlam, B.C. resident got off to a quick start with birdies on her first two holes and finishing with birdies on three of her last 5 holes.
Han, a member of Golf Canada’s development team holds the lead on day one over fellow teammates Monet Chun of Richmond Hill, Ontario and a two-shot lead over Celeste Dao from Notre Dame Ile Perrot, Quebec who shot opening rounds of 67 & 68 respectively.
Luke Quanson of Coquitlam, B.C. shot a four-under-par (68) on day one to go into day two with the lead in the Bantam Boys Division & Michelle Liu from Vancouver, B.C. holds a one-shot lead in the Bantam Girls division after an opening round one-under-par (71).
Play of round two begins tomorrow at 9:00 am with the forecast calling for wet & cool conditions.
