-Strong Field of over 160 juniors will include 71 Canadians-

Richmond Hill, Ont. (December 21, 2017) – Juniors golfers from around the world will gather at Innisbrook Golf & Resort next week as the Canadian Junior Golf Association (CJGA) prepares for the 25th annual CJGA World Junior Challenge.  The Palm Harbor, FL resort will host over 160 juniors from 22 different countries, 18 US states, and 6 Canadian provinces on the Copperhead, Island and North courses December 28-30.

“We are always excited to return to Innisbrook for this event” stated Executive Director Earl Fritz.  “To have over 160 juniors from 22 different countries competing is extremely exciting and we can’t wait for the tournament to get started.”

Home to the famed Copperhead course and Valspar Championship, won earlier this year by Canadian and CJGA alum Adam Hadwin, Innisbrook also has 3 other championship courses.

“The CJGA and Innisbrook have enjoyed a long and mutually beneficial relationship” according to Innisbrook Golf Sales Manager, Tim Thompson.  “The economic impact the CJGA brings to Innisbrook and the Tampa Bay community over the Christmas Break is significant. Players travel with families and combine a highly competitive tournament atmosphere with family fun in Florida over the holidays. We hope to continue to be a mainstay on the CJGA schedule for years to come”.

The event has had a number of notable past participants including PGA Tour member and Georgia native Harris English.  English captured the event twice (2002 and 2003) during his junior career.

“Innisbrook is proud to be hosting the CJGA for the 25th consecutive year. The players will enjoy the history of our courses, including Phil Mickelson’s NCAA victory on the Island Course, and Canadian Adam Hadwin’s first PGA tour victory last year on the Copperhead course,” said Bobby Barnes, Director of Golf, Innisbrook Resort.
