London, ON (August 22nd, 2017) – The 20th edition of the CJGA Mizuno National Championship kicked off this morning at Greenhills Golf Club in London, Ontario. The morning was windy and rainy which made for difficult scoring conditions, but juniors were able to manage the weather to post good rounds. The day was highlighted by three eagles, one made by Kendrick Webster on the 18th hole from 185 yards out. The other two were posted by Romi Dilawri and Jonathan Cramton who find themselves tied for the lead in the Junior Boys division.
Junior Boys U19
After day one, the Junior Boys division is shaping up to have a great week of competition. The division has sixteen players within three shots of the first round leaders with twenty-three players shooting under 79. There is five on top of the leaderboard entering the final around after they all shot even par rounds of seventy-two. Adam Jordan from Penetanguishene, Jonathan Cramton of Toronto and Romi Dilawri, Ben Miles and Max Dragon all from Ottawa are your first round leaders. Everyone in the field will be gearing up to jockey for position to make the cut after the second round tomorrow afternoon.
Junior Girls U19
Tiana Cruz from Richmond Hill, ON opened up the Junior Girls division at the CJGA Mizuno National Championship with a solid round of 77. She holds a five shot lead entering into the second round over Kacey Walker of Mississauga, ON who had an opening round score of 83. Rachael Rier from Hanover, ON is currently in third place after having a 84 during the first round.
Bantam Boys U15
The Bantam Boys division is off to a great start at the 2017 CJGA Mizuno National Championship. We have a very tight field which will give everyone the chance to move up the leaderboard tomorrow morning. Only nine shots separate first place from last place in the division. Entering the second round as the leader is Christian Leduc of Innisfil, ON after he shot a opening round 76. Only one shot behind Leduc is Tommy McKenzie from Calgary, AB who fired a 77 in his first round. Jordan Dumont of Blainville, QC rounds out the top three with a 79.
Bantam Girls U15
The Bantam Girls division continued the trend of the day by having a very close leaderboard after round one at the 2017 CJGA Mizuno National Championship. Calista Zeng of Maple, ON is the first round leader after posting scores of 83. Rozlyn Rooke from Milton, ON is only two back of Zeng after having a first round 85. Rounding out the top three is Sarah Gallagher from Burlington, ON after she shot an opening round 86.
