Brooklyn, ON (July 16, 2017) –  The Canadian Junior Golf Association will be hosting the 17th annual PING Canadian Junior Match Play Championship July 17th to July 20th. For the forth straight year, Lakeridge Links Golf Club in Brooklyn, ON will host the only national match play junior event in Canada. Juniors from across Canada will make their way to Lakeridge Links for this unique and prestigious major championship.

Prior to the tournament, a Freedom 55 Financial Skills Competition will take place on July 16th which will be followed by a Welcome BBQ for all the players in the field.

The PING Canadian Junior Match Play Championship began in 2001 at Horseshoe Valley in Barrie, ON in order to offer junior golfers a truly unique championship experience. It was clear at the inaugural event that there was a certain grandeur surrounding this competition.

Day one and two consists of stroke play competition which determines the seeding for match play. The top 16 players in both the Bantam and Junior Boys division will advance to match play, while the top 8 players in the Junior Girls and top 4 in Bantam Girls divisions will advance to match play. Day three and four will have players competing in both morning and afternoon matches.

The manicured surroundings and natural setting found at Lakeridge frequently draw comparisons to other premier courses. The courses exceptional design features 18 championship holes spanning 6900 yards on 160 acres of natural rolling terrain. Since opening in 1989, Lakeridge Links has continued to build its reputation around their diverse mix of challenging holes and universal appeal.

About the CJGA PING Canadian Junior Match Play Championship

In 2001 the PING Canadian Junior Match Play Championship was incorporated into the CJGA tournament schedule to provide junior golfers with outstanding skills an opportunity to compete in a match play format. Juniors gain a valuable experience due to the tournaments’ strength of field and have a chance to evaluate their skills against some of the nation’s best junior golfers. This tournament is the only national junior match play event in Canada.
