Kanata, ON (June 6, 2017) – The Canadian Junior Golf Association held its second Greg Norman Champions Golf Academy Series event at the beautiful Kanata Golf and Country Club in Kanata, ON this past weekend. The tournament saw juniors from across Eastern Ontario and Quebec travel to Kanata to battle it out on a challenging golf course. Players had good weather on Saturday during their first rounds but had to deal with a light rain fall during the final round on Sunday. The tournament crowned two champions that call Kanata Golf and Country Club their home course.

Junior Boys U19

Zach Wylie-Kos of Kanata, ON clinched the Junior Boys U19 division title on his home course this weekend. Wylie-Kos posted consistent rounds of 76-76-152 to finish six shots ahead of second place. Wylie-Kos entered the final round with a one shot lead after playing a tough course with some windy conditions. Overall, Zach was very pleased and excited to win his first CJGA event on his home course.

“I was driving the ball really well, my putting was also pretty good, I kept lipping out and couldn’t buy a putt all weekend. My driving and long game was the reason why I won”, explained Wylie-Kos in a post round interview.

Finishing in second place was Romi Dilawri from Ottawa, ON. Dilawri had weekend rounds of 85-73-158 to finish six shots off of Wylie-Kos’s pace. Romi’s final round 73 was the low round of the tournament.

Bantam Boys U19

Jared Berry of Ottawa, ON was able to come out on top in a playoff to claim the Bantam Boys trophy at Kanata Golf and Country Club. Berry posted scores of 79-82-161 to force a playoff in which he ended up winning on the second playoff hole with two solid chip shots. Berry entered the final round with the lead and was able to hold on at his home course to win his first CJGA event.

“The course is really nice, it is my home course, its in great condition. The greens are fast, hard and the fairways are nicely cut and soft”, said Berry when asked about Kanata Golf and Country Club in a post round interview.

Losing narrowly in a playoff to Berry was Caelan Sammy of Ottawa, ON who had rounds of 83-78-161. Sammy’s final round 78 was the low round of the tournament which forced the playoff with Berry.
