Ryley, AB (June 9, 2017) – The Canadian Junior Golf Association is excited to host another David Hearn Junior Series presented by Kia tournament this weekend at Coal Creek Golf Course in Ryley, AB. This is the fourth event being hosted in Alberta this season on the CJGA tour. Juniors from across Alberta will be traveling to Ryley for a chance to earn a spot in the David Hearn Junior Series Championship later in the season.

What makes Coal Creek such a unique golf course to stage a CJGA event is their black sand bunkers. The black bunkers are more difficult to get out of which will make juniors think twice before risking a shot that may led into their ball landed in these black bunkers. Other than the black sand bunkers, Coal Creek is in fantastic condition and has an excellent course layout which the juniors will enjoy. The greens tend to be quick at Coal Creek which makes sticking approach shots more difficult for golfers.

The weather in Ryley this weekend should be great for scoring conditions. A chance of showers on Saturday will soften the golf course. The final round on Sunday should be beautiful for the juniors as they will be playing in mainly sunny skies and lower winds.

The Junior Boys will be playing this weekend to potentially earn an invitation on CJGA Team Alberta for the Junior America’s Cup located in Washington at the end of July. The whole field will be able to earn a spot in the David Hearn Kia Championship being hosted in St. Catherines at the beginning of September. This tournament will be officially ranked by Alberta Golf and Junior Golf Scoreboard.
