Kanata, ON (June 2, 2017) – The Canadian Junior Golf Association is excited to head to Kanata Golf and Country Club this weekend for a Greg Norman Champions Golf Academy Series event just outside of our nations capital. Players will have a chance to potentially earn a spot on CJGA Team Canada at the Euro Junior Golf Cup being hosted in St. Andrews, Scotland in August.
The Kanata Golf and Country Club is a classic parkland style course that originally opened back in 1968. Since then the course has been redesigned to introduce strategically placed trees, rolling mounds and large bunkers. Although the greens can be on the smaller size it requires players to be accurate and place a premium on their shot selection and ball control. Juniors should prepare for the short but difficult par-3 16th hole which is considered the most challenging in the Ottawa region.
The forecast predicts for a mix of sun and clouds on Saturday with temperatures hovering around 20 degrees. Juniors may face some light rain fall during the final round Sunday as the temperature is predicted to drop a few degrees.
Along with being a qualifier for the Euro Junior Golf Cup, players will also be battling it out for a potential spot in the FCG Callaway World Championship in California later this summer. This event is officially ranked by the Junior Golf Scoreboard.
