
Junior Boys U19
The Junior Boys division was won by Justin Nelligan who residents in Hamilton. Nelligan was able to capture his first victory on the CJGA on a very tight leaderboard. Nelligan had rounds of 79-80-159 to win by one stroke, as he entered the final round tied for the lead.
“You have to be very accurate off the tee, you have to put it in play then you have to be short of the hole, if your long of the hole then your in three putt territory”, said Nelligan in a post round interview. Nelligan drained a 10 foot putt for birdie on 18 which ended up winning him the tournament.
Justin Grant of Burlington, ON finished in solo second place just one shot off of Nelligan’s pace. Grant had consistent rounds of 80-80-160 to narrowly miss out on forcing a playoff with Nelligan.
Junior Girls U19
Mackenzie Morrison of Toronto, ON comfortably won the Junior Girls division at Glendale Golf and Country Club this past weekend. Morrison had stellar weekend rounds of 89-85-174. Morrison’s final round 85 was the lowest score recorded in the division on the weekend.
“I played well, I was trying to hit greens in regulation and two putt for my pars and it happened a lot of the time out there”, said Morrison after her final round, “I found the golf course tricky, but I thought the narrow fairways really fit my game”.
Mandy Zeng from Oakville, ON finished in second place in the division. Zeng had weekend scores of 97-106-203.
Bantam Boys U15
Courtice, ON own Ethan Cardwell was able to win back to back titles with another victory this past weekend. Cardwell posted rounds of 74-80-154 to comfortably win the Bantam Boys division. Cardwell’s first round 74 was the low score of the tournament in the division.
When asked about how he felt about winning back to back rounds Cardwell passionately replied, “You know I’m pretty excited, its always good to go back to back weekends which is pretty special. I played pretty good, just blew up for a little bit but that happens”. The shot that stands out from Cardwell’s round was an eagle on the par 5 12th hole in which he put his second shot from 220 yards to 3 feet from the flag.
Connor Munro from Etobicoke, ON finished in second place with rounds of 85-77-162. Munro’s final round 77 was the lowest score on Sunday which helped him climb the leaderboard to place second.
Bantam Girls U15
Sarah Gallagher from Burlington, ON captured the Bantam Girls division at Glendale Golf and Country Club over this past weekend for her second win of the season on the CJGA. Gallagher posted consistent rounds of 83-83-166 to comfortably win the title. Her pair of 83’s were the tournament low scores in the division.
“Its amazing, I love when they come to watch me”, said Gallagher when asked about being able to win a golf tournament while her parents and grandparents spectated, “I feel pretty good about my win, I played well but wish I made a few more putts”.
Rozlyn Rooke of Milton, ON placed second in the Bantam Girls division after scores of 102-89-191.
