Saskatoon, SK (May 26, 2017) – The Canadian Junior Golf Association (CJGA) is hosting a DeLaet Cup qualifier this weekend for Team East at Moon Lake Golf and Country Club. This is the first event on the CJGA calendar in Saskatchewan this season. Juniors will be competing for a spot on Team East in the DeLaet Cup that will be hosted in Saskatoon from June 13-15.

The course at Moon Lake Golf and Country Club is a Scottish links championship course. Players will have to play a links style of play this weekend at Moon Lake which has traditional Scottish links designed water hazards, heavily mounded fairways and long native grass roughs. Juniors will be getting the full golf experience over the weekend as Moon Lake presents fantastic playing conditions and natural beauty.

Juniors will be gifted with beautiful weather conditions over the weekend in Saskatoon. Forecasts predict temperatures in-between 17 and 21 degrees with a mix of sun and clouds. The final round Sunday should present golfers with the best scoring conditions of the tournament as they will play in sun and warm temperatures.

Not only will juniors be playing for a spot in the DeLaet Cup but there are multiple other tournaments players can qualify for. This tournament will act as a qualifier for The FCG Callaway World Championship in California, the Euro Junior Golf Cup in St.Andrews, Scotland and the North America Cup in Toronto. The North America Cup is a Ryder Cup layout tournament that sees Team CJGA take on Team AJGA, an event that Rickie Fowler played in back in 2003. This event is also ranked by Golf Canada and Junior Golf Scoreboard.

About the DeLaet Cup

Formally known as the Junior Canada Cup, the DeLaet Cup is the only national junior Ryder Cup style event in Canada. A one-of-a-kind experience for the next generation of Canadian golfers, the Delate Cup will feature a 12-person team in a East vs West showdown. The event was developed to stretch beyond the typical stroke play format in order to provide juniors with the opportunity to test their skills in other formats, such as fourball matches, foursome matches and singles matches. Experience in these different formats serve as an excellent preparation tool for juniors, as it helps them gain exposure to different types of play and develop mental toughness.
