Cavendish, PEI (May 23, 2017) – The Canadian Junior Golf Association hosted it’s annual Atlantic Spring Classic over the long weekend at Eagles Glenn of Cavendish in Cavendish, PEI. The three round tournament saw juniors from the east coast come to compete for their division titles and enjoy a skills competition and BBQ. The windy conditions came into effect during the first and second round with gusts hovering around 40 km/h that juniors had to adapt too. Monday they were rewarded with nicer weather to concluded the tournament.

Junior Boys U19

Shaun Margeson of Fall River, NS was able to clinch the Junior Boys division after posting scores of 73-75-73-221. This was Margeson’s second win on the CJGA this season after only playing in two events. He was delighted with his second win and is off to a stellar start for the season.

Margeson’s driver was a strength of his game over the three rounds, “I was keeping it in play, I didn’t lose any balls over the weekend, I was able to keep it in play and avoid big numbers on the score card”, said Margeson post round. Playing with friends Margeson had made on the CJGA helped create a comfortable environment where he felt relaxed throughout the final round.

Ewan Kelly Jr. from Beaver Bank, NS finished in solo second place over the long weekend at Eagles Glenn of Cavendish. Kelly Jr. posted rounds of 78-77-73-228 to finish seven shots off of Margeson’s pace.

“The weather was pretty rough, it was hard to measure my distances and hard to commit to shots when I was clubbing up because I was unsure if it would be to much or to little”, explained MacDonald on how the wind effected her game over the first two rounds.

Sarah Holt of Waterville, NB finished in second place at the Atlantic Spring Classic after posting scores of 105-103-98-306.
