Gormley, ON (May 11, 2017) – The Canadian Junior Golf Association (CJGA) is holding a Team East qualifier for the DeLaet Cup this weekend at Station Creek Golf Club in Gormley, Ontario. Juniors will be competing this weekend for a chance to represent Team East at the DeLaet Cup in Saskatoon, Saskatchewan from June 13-15.

Station Creek is one of the most unique tracks that CJGA juniors will face all year. A charming style clubhouse along with a challenging golf course will make for a great tournament this weekend. The course which was renovated in 2004 by Paul Takahashi, features large teeing areas, dramatic bunkering and challenging green complexes. The rolling terrain of the fairways along with mature forests will demand the focus of juniors if they want to be successful at Station Creek. The 18th hole on the South Course is one of the most demanding finishing holes on the CJGA tour which could ultimately determine the champion.

Juniors should look forward to warmer weather this weekend as the forecast predicts for temperatures hovering around 14 degrees for both the first and second rounds. There is a slight chance of showers for both days as well.

Along with this weekends tournament being a qualifier for a spot on Team East for the DeLaet Cup, juniors could also potentially qualify to represent the CJGA at the IMG Academy Junior World Golf Championships in San Diego from July 10-14. This tournament will also be a qualifier for the annual AJGA/CJGA Junior Championship in August that will be hosted in Ontario this year.

About the DeLaet Cup

Formally known as the Junior Canada Cup, the DeLaet Cup is the only national junior Ryder Cup style event in Canada. A one-of-a-kind experience for the next generation of Canadian golfers, the Delate Cup will feature a 12-person team in a East vs West showdown. The event was developed to stretch beyond the typical stroke play format in order to provide juniors with the opportunity to test their skills in other formats, such as fourball matches, foursome matches and singles matches. Experience in these different formats serve as an excellent preparation tool for juniors, as it helps them gain exposure to different types of play and develop mental toughness.
