Hawkesbury, ON (May 11, 2017) – The Canadian Junior Golf Association (CJGA) is proud to be host to the first event of the Quebec swing for the 2017 season. Humber College Professional Golf Management program presents the CJGA Quebec Junior Open this weekend at Hawkesbury Golf Course. The Quebec Junior Open will have a field comprised of Junior Boys and Junior Girls aged 15-18.
The Hawkesbury Golf Course will give the juniors a test this weekend with its signature tree-lined fairways which will demand players to be accurate off the tee. With multiple elevated greens throughout the course, juniors will have to determine elevation changes when hitting approach shots into the greens. Hawkesbury has a reputation of playing much tougher than the yardage on the score card may indicate, which juniors should take note of when mentally preparing for the tournament.
Players should prepare for light rain falls this weekend, which may adjust their game plan on attacking the golf course. With cloudy skies all weekend, juniors will be playing in temperatures in-between 12 and 16 degrees according to forecasts.
The Quebec Junior Open Presented by Humber College PGM will also be a qualifier for the IMG Academy Junior World Golf Championships which is hosted in San Diego in July. Players could also potentially qualify to represent CJGA at the North America Cup in July, a tournament that in 2003 Rickie Fowler participated in as a member of Team USA.
