Carlsbad, California – (December 7, 2016) –– The final round of Aaron Baddeley International Junior Championship concluded today at Omni La Costa Resort & Spa in Carlsbad, California. It was a week of sunshine filled with great golf on a tough golf course layout. Charles Reiter, Palm Desert, CA took home the Boys division shooting a tournament total of 272 (-16) while Jo Hua Hung of Taiwan took home the Girls division shooting a 285 (-7). Last years team champion, San Diego Junior Golf Association, tied Australia for the boys team title with a total score of 1447. Japan took home the girls team title with a score of 577.

The boys team for CJGA (1591) made a final round charge to move into the six place but could not overcome their slow start from earlier in the week and ended the tournament in seventh place. New to the tournament format was the girls team title which saw the girls from CJGA finishing tenth (647). Andy Kim of Langley, BC and Vivian Lee of New Westminster, BC finished as top Canadian in their respective divisions.

CJGA Team Canada will now return home gaining a valuable international experience. “The team represented Canada and themselves in a first-class manner. Moving forward, the experience gained here will be a great benefit to our players” said CJGA Team Manager, John Lawrence. “Seventh place isn’t what we had in mind when we first arrived, but I am very proud of the effort our players displayed on and off the course.”
