St. Catharines, Ont. (August 30, 2016) – Strong winds greeted juniors for round two of the Canadian Junior Golf Association’s Mizuno National Junior Golf Championship. Scores were low again today as juniors went birdie hunting in hopes of making the cut. A fifty percent cut in the field will make for an interesting and intense moving day tomorrow.
Junior Boys Division (U19)
Johnny Travale, 15, from Stoney Creek, Ont., made a significant jump up the leaderboard after shaving four strokes off of his first round score for a round total of 66 (-5). With six birdies under his belt, he now sits atop the Junior Boys division with a two-round total of 136.
Robbie Latter, 15, from Mississauga, Ont., was pushed from his six stroke under par 65 lead. Latter began today with a bogey on the first and second holes. He bounced back with an eagle on 7th hole and even through the rest, leaving him with a round total of 72 for a two-round total of 173.

Junior Girls Division (U19)
Victoria Zheng, 12, from Markham, Ont., moved up the ranks today to push Ward down a rung. She came into today looking to correct yesterday’s mistakes after posting a 72 (+1) and did just that, giving herself a two round total of 142 confidence for round three.
First round leader, Emily Ward, 16, from Niagara Falls, Ont., finished yesterday with a round total of 70 (-1). Today, she started with a bogey on the first and second holes but realigned herself to sink five birdies, giving her a 73 (+2) for a two-round total of 143.

Juvenile Boys Division (U17)
Parker Lee, from Oro Medonte, Ont., broke his 72 (+1) tie to move into the lead position for the Juvenile Boys division. Lee ended today with four birdies and a round total of 71 (E), giving him a two-day total of 143.
A confident Matthew Anderson finished round two with two bogeys, four birdies and even through the remainder of the course. The 16 year old from Mississauga, Ont., cleaned up with a round total of 69 (-2), but fell short due to yesterday’s total of 75 (+4) for a two-round total of 144. Anderson sits in a tie with Brendan Dunphy, 15, from Whitby, Ont., and Ishira Fernando, 16, of Hamilton, Ont.

Bantam Boys Division (U15)
Fourteen-year-old Caledon, Ont., native, Bavake Sihota found the back nine to be a little tricky with higher winds in the second round. Sihota sunk a birdie on his first hole, moving smoothly through the course with four birdies and a round total of 73 (+2), for a two-round total of 144.
Thomas Latter, 12, of Mississauga, Ont., opened his second round sitting one-stroke over par 70. Latter continued his streak with strong putting to score par on the first three holes followed by two birdies. During the round, Latter racked up three additional birdies and a round total of 73 (+2), giving him a two-round total of 145.

Bantam Girls Division (U15)
Victoria Liu and Jue Wen continue to dominate the Bantam Girls division but Liu, 13, from Vancouver, B.C., pushed Wen into second. Liu shot three over par yesterday, but found a bit of trouble on the course today with a round total of 77. Liu now sits first with a two-day total of 151.
Jue Wen, 14, from North York, Ont., sits two strokes behind Liu with a two-round total of 153. After opening the round with a rough start, Wen went on to sink two birdies on the back to give her a round total of 79 (+8) for a two-round total of 153.

Tomorrow will begin round three of the CJGA Mizuno National Junior Golf Championship. Tee times will begin bright and early at 7:00 a.m.
