Pinehurst, North Carolina (July 27, 2016) – This season will mark the 11-year anniversary of the pinnacle World Championships at Pinehurst, in North Carolina. The competition will get underway beginning with the U.S Kids Golf Teen World Championship which will run from July 28-30, followed by the U.S Kids Golf World Championship, from August 4-6.
The U.S Kids Golf Teen World Championship has grown significantly over the years, providing an extension to junior golfers who are no longer eligible to participate in the U.S Kids Golf World Championship. Towering pines and six championship courses await more than 600 of junior golf’s top teenagers. This year, 14 members of the Canadian Junior Golf Association (CJGA) will participate in the event. Junior golfers will compete in six separate age divisions, at a venue that has previously honoured some of golf’s greatest champions.
Following the U.S Kids Golf Teen World Championship, junior golfers ages 12 and under will get their chance to compete in the U.S Kids Golf Teen World Championship. Young players will get the opportunity to play on the courses of Pinehurst that have been called legendary, visually stunning, challenging, but also fun to play. More than 1,500 golfers will participate in the U.S Kids Golf World Championship from over 50 countries around the world, including 78 members of the CJGA representing Canada.
“The U.S. Kids Golf Tournament Players Association is proud to welcome the best junior golfers in Canada to compete in the largest Teen World and World Championship since its inception” said Manager of International Events at the U.S. Kids Golf Foundation, Carter McClaugherty. “With over 2,200 players representing more than 60 countries, the competition is at an all-time high. Simply competing in the Teen World and World Championship is a testament to the hard work and success of each of these golfers. On behalf of U.S. Kids Golf, we wish all players the best of luck and remind them to have fun over the next two weeks.”
