Chilliwack, B.C. (May 13, 2016) -This weekend will be the second last event in the Lower Mainland Region to qualify for the CJGA PING Canadian Junior Match Play Championship and the CJGA Mizuno National Junior Golf Championship. The Canadian Junior Golf Association (CJGA) Junior Tour will be playing the Royalwood Golf Course in Chilliwack, B.C. Division winners will earn an exemption to the PING and Mizuno championships.

The CJGA Mizuno National Junior Golf Championship is the culminating event on the CJGA’s schedule, bringing together the top junior golfers representing every province across Canada in an esteemed four-day competition. This event was developed to provide elite junior golfers with an opportunity to compete in a high profile national championship event as well as build their golf resumes.

In 2001 the CJGA PING Canadian Junior Match Play Championship was incorporated into the CJGA tournament schedule to provide junior golfers with outstanding skills an opportunity to compete in a match play format. Juniors gain valuable experience due to the tournaments’ strength of field and have a chance to evaluate their skills against some of the nation’s best junior golfers. This tournament is the only national junior match play event in Canada.

Royalwood is among the most popular golf destinations in the Lower Mainland, the greens are considered to be some of the best putting surfaces in the Fraser Valley, and perhaps in the entire Province of British Columbia. It is a links-style, par 72 layout designed by Jim McIntyre and built to be the home of golf for the Fraser Valley.
