Richmond Hill, Ont. (March 30, 2016) – The Canadian Junior Golf Association (CJGA) will be watching closely this weekend as three CJGA members step onto the hallowed grounds at Augusta National to compete in the finals of the Drive, Chip, & Putt Championship. The championship takes place on Sunday April 3 and will be televised on the Golf Channel.

Vanessa Borovilos (Toronto, Ont.), Elaine Giantsopolous (Richmond Hill, Ont.), and Jayla Kucy

(Camrose, Alta.) will be carrying the Canadian colors on Sunday morning at Augusta. Both Borovilos and Kucy are returning to the championship for the second straight year while Giantsopolous is making her first trip to Augusta National.

Kucy and her family (brothers Devin and Mason are also CJGA members) have a nice profile of the championship website – Jayla Kucy Dreams Big on the Ice and the Green.

Each participant will compete in all three skills (Drive, Chip & Putt). Participants will accumulate points in each skill and the participant with the highest number of accumulated points will be declared the Overall Champion of his or her age category. In the case of tie in the overall score, the putting rank will serve as the tie breaker (followed by 1) chipping and 2) driving if necessary).

A joint initiative founded in 2013 by the Masters Tournament, United States Golf Association and The PGA of America, the Drive, Chip and Putt Championship is a free nationwide junior golf development competition aimed at growing the game by focusing on the three fundamental skills employed in golf. By tapping the creative and competitive spirit of girls and boys ages 7-15, the Drive, Chip and Putt Championship provides aspiring junior golfers an opportunity to play with their peers in qualifiers around the country.
