Carlsbad, California – (December 10, 2015) –– The final round of Aaron Baddeley International Junior Championship took place today at Omni La Costa Resort & Spa in Carlsbad, California. It was a week of sunshine filled with great golf on a tough golf course layout. Minwoo Lee of Australia took home the Boys division shooting a tournament record 271 (-17) total while Minori Iwasaki of Japan took home the Girls division shooting a 285 (-7). The team from San Diego Junior Golf Association took home the title for the first time in tournament history edging out five time defending champion Australia by a single stroke.
CJGA Team Canada (1611) made a final round charge to move into the fifth place but could not overcome their slow start from earlier in the week and ended the tournament in sixth place. Andy Kim of Langley, BC and Bethany Ma of Vancouver, BC finished as top Canadian in their respective divisions.
CJGA Team Canada will now return home gaining a valuable international experience. “The team represented Canada and themselves in a first-class manner. Moving forward, the experience gained here will be a great benefit to our players” said CJGA Team Manager, John Lawrence. “Sixth place isn’t what we had in mind when we first arrived, but I am very proud of the effort our players displayed on and off the course.”
