Richmond Hill, ON (July 3, 2015) – DiamondBack Golf Club in Richmond Hill, ON is set to host the CJGA Junior Tour on July 6th and 7th. Juniors will take to the hilly, rolling landscape of DiamondBack in hopes of finding the winner’s circle. Those in the field this week are competing for exemptions into CJGA national events, including the PING Canadian Junior Match Play Championship and the CJGA Mizuno National Junior Golf Championship. Spots are also on the line for the Canadian International Junior Challenge, set to take place in September at Wildfire Golf Club in Lakefield, Ontario.
This Richmond Hill course, which opened in 1993, appears daunting with its humps, bumps and forced carries, but can be surprisingly playable for less skilled golfers. The front nine is defined by hill and dale and lots of water, and the mature-looking back nine dips into the valley lands carved out by thick trees. The island green on hole number 8 is one of many highlights of this great course, which features dramatic bunkering and varied green sites throughout.
The weather for Monday looks perfect, while there is a chance of showers on Tuesday. We should be in store for a great tournament, regardless of the weather.
The field for this week’s event is all set to go and look to be on the top of their game come the first round on Monday. Here are some players to watch:
