Kanata, ON (June 8, 2015) – The final round of the CJGA Junior at Kanata has wrapped up at the Kanata Golf and Country Club in Kanata, Ontario. The course challenged the area’s best golfers over the weekend, as the winding fairways throughout the neighbourhood required exceptional ball control. The great course and weather conditions provided great competition but the tough greens prevented many low scores.

Boys 15-19

Hometown golfer, Nicolas Brisebois of Kanata, ON, showed competitors in the Boys’ 15-19 division he was going to defend his home course. Brisebois built upon his first round score of 72 (+2) by following it up with a final round of 78 (+8) to take the division title with a combined score of 150 (+10). “All the guys were great, this tournament always brings out the best competition in Ottawa”, said Brisebois. In a close second, was Ottawa native Keenan McPhail posting a final score of 153 (+13). The two juniors have earned themselves an exemption to the AJGA/CJGA Junior Championship taking place later this summer.

Boys 14 and Under

Taking home his first CJGA win, Salvatore Guido of Gloucester, ON, led from start to finish in the Boys 14 & under division. Guido posted rounds of 82 and 83 for a total of 163, edging out second place Connor Danis by two strokes. “I played pretty well this weekend, I had to put up some good rounds to get the win,” said Guido.

 

 

Girls 15-19

Annie Lacombe of Laval, QC was able to hold on for a one-stroke win over fellow Quebec native Emilie Tyndall in the Girls 15-19 Division. Lacombe credits her work on her mental game for posting a final score of 163. “It was a tough course. You have to have a good tee shot to get a low score,” said Lacombe.

 

 

Girls 14 and Under

Rounding out the competition in the Girls 14 & Under division was Dylann Armstrong of North Gower, ON coming from behind in the final round to capture the title by 4 strokes. Armstrong was able to overcome a 3 shot deficit to record a combined score of 169, after a second round of 83. Armstrong credited her putting and tee-shots this weekend to lead her to the win.
