Pickering, ON (May 23, 2015) – The Nike Golf Junior Series at Cherry Downs Golf Club continued weekend, with an exciting turn of events during round 1. The course proved to be very challenging for all the junior golfers as they battled across the tough, Augusta-like greens.

Jack Sue from Richmond Hill, ON leads the Boys 14 & Under division after shooting a first round score of 75 (+4).  Trailing four strokes behind are Tristan Renaud from Sudbury, ON and Dee Xie of Toronto, ON with scores of 79 (+8).  Tomorrow is sure to have an exciting finish for spectators.

In the Boys 15-19 division, Matthew Vihant of Toronto, ON has extended his hot play with an opening round of 75 (+4).  Players are tightly packed in this division, with Gavin MacIver of Toronto, ON and Dylan Stuckless of Oshawa, ON trailing by two strokes after shooting scores of 77 (+6).  Another stroke behind is Jack Riordan who opened the first round with a score of 78 (+7).

Richmond Hill resident Emily Zhu leads the Girls 14 & Under division after shooting a first round 87 (+15), and will look to take home the division title tomorrow.

The Girls 15-19 division is being closely contested after Kelsey Fuchs’s opening round score of 81 (+9).  After shooting a score of 85 (+13), Sarah Kim of Toronto, ON finds herself only four strokes behind.

With some closely contested divisional battles, tomorrow should be exciting for all spectators planning to attend.
