McKeating comes out on top at RedTail Landing

Nisku, Alta. (May 31, 2016) – Competition was tough this weekend at the Redtail Landing Golf Club in Nisku, Alta. The Canadian Junior Golf Association (CJGA) Junior Tour hosted the third Prairie event of the season. On the line were invitations to play for CJGA Team Canada at the Euro Junior Golf Cup taking place in Scotland. Bradley McKeating ended the weekend with the lowest round of the tournament and topped his division with a final score of four strokes under par.

Junior Boys Division (U19)

Chris Horton, 17, from Calgary, Alta., played a career best round this weekend. Horton made an eagle on the second hole and proceeded to make four birdies during the round, which propelled him to a division title. Horton shot rounds of 71 (-1), 71 (-1) for a tournament total of 142.

Max Sekulic, 16, from Rycroft, Alta., followed behind in second place, carding rounds of 71 (-1), 75 (+3) for a two-day total of 146.

Junior Girls Division (U19)

Claire Emery, 18, from Calgary, Alta., came out on top of the Junior Girls division with a three-stroke lead. Emery posted matching rounds of 77 for a tournament total of 154.

In the second place position was Sharmaine Rapisura, 17, from Calgary, Alta., with rounds of 77 (+5), 80 (+8) for a weekend total of 157.

Juvenile Boys Division (U17)

Calgary, Alta., golfer, Bradley McKeating, 15, made a total of 8 birdies over the weekend allowing him to keep the lead and finish 4 strokes under par. McKeating fired rounds of 69 (-3), 71 (-1) for a tournament total of 140.

Ethan Choi, 14, from Pincher Creek, Alta., followed a stroke behind McKeating to take second place. Choi made an impressive 10 birdies during the weekend. He finished 3 strokes under par, carding rounds of 72 (+1), 69 (-3) for a two-round total of 141.

Juvenile Girls Division (U17)

Annabelle Ackroyd, 14, from Calgary, Alta., ended the weekend at the top of the Juvenile Girls division. Ackroyd fired rounds of 79, 80 giving her a tournament total of 159.

Also from Calgary, Alta., Taylor Stone, 16, took home the second place title after carding rounds of 85, 81, for a tournament total of 166.

Bantam Boys Division (U15)

Caden Park, 14, from Calgary, Alta., held on in the second round to win the Bantam Boys division title. He posted rounds of 78 (+6), 79 (+7) for a tournament total of 157.

Rory Huycke, 13, from Calgary, Alta., trailed Park with rounds of 77, 84, for a two-day total of 161.

Bantam Girls Division (U15)

Tillie Claggett, 12, from Calgary, Alta., won the Bantam Girls division after posting rounds of 83, 84, giving her a tournament total of 167.

Kaitlyn Wingnean, 13, from Edmonton, Alta., finished behind Claggett after she carded rounds of 84, 90, giving her a weekend total of 174.

 

The CJGA Junior Tour will host their next Alberta event June 11-12 at the Fox Hollow Golf Course in Calgary, Alta.
