In 2001 the CJGA PING Canadian Junior Match Play Championship was incorporated into the CJGA tournament schedule to provide junior golfers with outstanding skills an opportunity to compete in a match play format. Juniors gain valuable experience due to the tournaments’ strength of field and have a chance to evaluate their skills against some of the nation’s best junior golfers. This tournament is the only national junior match play event in Canada.

Tournament Format

Four-day event consisting of two days of stroke play and two days of match play.

Number of players qualifying for match play may decrease based on tournament entries per division. Final number of match play seeds will be announced 14 days prior to the tournament.

Qualification Process

Juniors can earn exemptions to the PING Canadian Junior Match Play Championship by the following methods:

  1. Winner or finalist of 2016 CJGA PING Canadian Match Play Championship
  1. Placed 1st or 2nd (including ties) in any CJGA Junior Tour event during the current season prior to June 13th
  1. The top golfers from the previous CJGA Mizuno National Golf Championship:
    1. Girls Division – Top 5 and ties
    2. Boys 14 & Under Division – Top 5 and ties
    3. Boys 15-19 division – Top 10 and ties
  1. Winners of the 2016 Nike Golf Junior Championship
  1. Successful Championship Application players who have submitted an application will be placed on the waiting list and reviewed by the CJGA committee to be accepted.

Please note that in order to participate in CJGA Championship events, you must be a member and in good standing with the Canadian Junior Golf Association.

Juniors that are eligible to participate must fill out a CJGA Championship Application and sent it to the CJGA Head Office prior to June 21th
