Anne devoted her life to the game of golf and was enthusiastic in educating all players on the rules, exemplified in her serving as CJGA Director of Rules and Competition up until 2021. Anne’s service to the CJGA and junior golf in Canada lives on today and will continue to for years to come.

Since the CJGA has moved forward, many of its juniors have moved on to play on the PGA Tour proving that the Canadian Junior Golf Association is Canada’s #1 Developmental Golf Tour in Canada.

The RBC Canadian Open field consisted of many CJGA Alumni; Corey Conners, Mackenzie Hughes, Adam Svensson, Nick Taylor, Adam Hadwin, Roger Sloan, Ben Silverman, Aaron Cockerill, Michael Gligic, Daniel Kim, Stuart Macdonald, Johnny Travale, Myles Creighton and Taylor Pendrith.

On Sunday, June 11, 2023, Nick Tayler, who has already won on the PGA Tour, won the RBC Canadian Open. Nick was the first Canadian to win the RBC Canadian Open since Pat Fletcher won it in 1954. This marks one of the greatest moments in Canadian Sports in some time.

“Nick was one of the Juniors that I had taken to represent CJGA Team Canada in World Competitions several times,” said Earl Fritz, CJGA CEO. “I always knew that he had greatness in him.”

The Canadian Junior Golf Association provides over 130 junior events throughout Canada plus the World Junior Challenge held December 27-30th each year at the Innisbrook Resort in Florida.

Port Elgin, ON (June 8^th, 2023) – The Canadian Junior Golf Association (CJGA) travelled to the beaches of Lake Huron, Ontario to kick off the second annual CJGA TaylorMade Canadian Invitational, the first of four Tier-1 Major Championships that the CJGA holds this season in the province of Ontario.

CJGA players, parents, and staff spent the weekend at beautiful Saugeen Golf Club. The course was in pristine condition and the weather was excellent which allowed for some exceptional golf and fierce competition.

Divisional Winners

Junior Boys Division (U19)

A strong performance from Dougie Basadur leads him to the win at Saugeen Golf Club. Heading into the second round three shots back of the lead, Basadur went five-under throughout Rounds 2 and 3 to win the Junior Boys Division at the TaylorMade Canadian Invitational.

Junior Girls Division (U19)

A strong wire-to-wire win for Bridget Yu. With two career CJGA Junior Tour wins, including one two weeks ago at Royal Niagara, Yu captures her first-ever CJGA Major Championship with a Junior Girls Division win this week.

Bantam Boys Division (U15)

Haden Wang battles it out until the very end and wins. Entering the final round as a co-leader, Wang shot a final round 74 (+2) to win the Bantam Boys Division by one stroke.

Bantam Girls Division (U15)

Another great major result from Ellen Wang. With a solo third-place finish at last year’s CJGA Mizuno National Junior Golf Championship, Wang wins the Bantam Girls Division with a solid final round score of 73 (+1).

Top Stories

With three days of fierce competition, plenty of stories were made, from long putts to chips-ins, half the field deserves to be talked about. Except two stories stood out the most, the first being Junior Boy Matthew Simpson who became the newest member of the CJGA Hometurf Hole-In-One Club. Simpson scored an ace on the Par 3, 7th hole at Saugeen Golf Club Sunrise Course during the final round of play at the CJGA TaylorMade Canadian Invitational. This is now the second year an ace has been scored at the TaylorMade Canadian Invitational, with Neil Hanlon carding one during last year’s inaugural tournament. Congratulations to Simpson as he joins the Hometurf Hole-In-One Club as the seventh junior to score an ace thus far in 2023.

A hole-in-one is something that most golfers will never achieve, but Lundon Hadley did the unthinkable by getting an albatross during the second round of the TaylorMade Canadian Invitational.

On his 11th hole of the day, Hadley pulls up to the Par 5 second hole on the Sunrise Course at Saugeen Golf Club and drains his second shot from 240 yards out. Only 18 PGA golfers have achieved an albatross and is debated as a one in six million chance of achieving one. Congratulations to Lundon Hadley on his albatross as it’s a golf moment one will never forget.

Lisle, ON (April 16^th, 2023) – The Canadian Junior Golf Association (CJGA) tee’d up our 30^th Anniversary Season in Ontario this weekend with the playing of the CJGA Hurricane Series Opener at Silver Brooke Presented by Hometurf, our first of 54 events on our 2023 season schedule on both the CJGA Junior and Linkster Tours.

CJGA players, parents, and staff were treated to unusually nice weather for mid-April, which led to dry conditions and low scores at the beautiful Silver Brooke Golf Club in Lisle, Ontario.
