Ottawa, Ont. (April 12, 2022) – The Ottawa Valley Golf Association (OVGA) and the Canadian Junior Golf Association (CJGA) are pleased to announce an extension to their partnership for the 2022 season.  In addition to the Junior Tour events that they have been running together for the past two years in the Ottawa Valley and Outaouais, the OVGA and CJGA will work together to introduce the OVGA Introduction Tour to help introduce new junior players to the game. This model has been used successfully in 2021 by other regions of Golf Quebec.

The OVGA Introduction Tour will run concurrently with the CJGA Linkster tour events in the region and will include four 9-hole tournaments for players between the ages of 6 and 12 to introduce them to organized tournament golf in a player-friendly environment. Parents are encouraged to caddy for their juniors and help them with the Rules of Golf. Assistance will also be available to help procure junior golf equipment for new players.

“The Ottawa Valley Golf Association is excited to build on our partnership with the CJGA and to help grow the game at the grass-roots level. Along with our junior tournament sponsors, we are committed to helping make this great sport accessible to all and work together to break down any barriers we can,” says Jim Davidson, OVGA Director of Player Development.

“We are delighted to extend our partnership with the OVGA and partner with a great organization to increase the junior opportunities to those in the area,” said Tyler Torrieri, CJGA Director of Tour Operations. “Working with Jim Davidson and his OVGA team these last two years has been amazing. We look forward to expanding on our partnership this year with the OVGA Introduction Tour, and in the years to come.”
