Belleville, ON (May 17, 2015) – Junior golfers once again had excellent weather for today’s final round of The Great Waterway Junior Classic at Black Bear Ridge Golf Course in Belleville, ON. These good conditions, however, did not translate into low scores due to the difficulty of the golf course. Overall, players and spectators had an enjoyable weekend.

IMG_5025Jamaal Moussaoui improved upon his first round score with a second round 79 (+7). His tournament total of 160 was enough to claim the Boys 15-19 division title – his first ever with the CJGA. “I drove the ball very well and was able to hit a lot of fairways this weekend,” said Moussaoui. In a tie for second place was Ben Weaver of Kingston, ON and Connor Riley of Oakville, ON, with tournament totals of 166. With an exemption into the AJGA/CJGA Championship, both Weaver and Riley birdied the first playoff hole. Weaver would go on to win the playoff on the second hole with a par.

IMG_5023Playing in his first CJGA tournament, Ethan Johnston of Belleville, ON started his career with a convincing victory in the Boys 14 & Under division. Johnston posted rounds of 77 (+5) and 83 (+11) for a tournament total of 160. “I thought I managed my game very well this weekend, and that was a big reason for my victory,” said Johnston.

IMG_5028In the Girls 14 & Under division, Dylan Armstrong of North Gower, ON shot a tournament total of 176 for her first junior tour victory. “I thought that the golf course was quite challenging, but I still enjoyed myself. I just wanted to post the lowest score I could today.”
