The CJGA is excited to add Sean Casey to its growing list of respected CPGA professionals as the association’s newest regional coach. His passion for the game, desire to learn, and commitment to helping others has made him the ideal candidate for this position. Casey brings with him a high degree of expertise, which he has developed through his background and experience in the world of golf.
After becoming a Class ‘A’ member of the Canadian PGA, Sean joined the ClubLink Academy at Glen Abbey in 2001 where he was introduced to current CJGA National Coach, Sean Foley. The two have worked closely over the past five years.
He has developed a large clientele of students, most of whom he instructs year round through his schools at PGA Village in Florida, as well as the indoor teaching facility at The ClubLink Academy at Glen Abbey during the winter months.
As the new regional coach of the CJGA, Sean Casey will be given a forum to share his knowledge with up and coming young golfers, leaving a positive impact on the world of junior golf.
“As a coach I am always doing my best to inspire the kids to be better golfers and better people,” says Casey.
One of the ways he plans to achieve this is through the HSBC Clinics for Kids, which are offered at every CJGA Junior Linkster Event in 2007. Junior Linkster golfers (Ages 5 – 12) will enjoy an interactive clinic prior to each tournament at no additional cost. The hour-long sessions explore all facets of the game, giving a boost to the golfers before they begin play. Whether it’s mental preparation, putting, or golf swing, the clinic will provide a great introduction that allows young golfers to really get a feel for the game.
With his unique philosophy on golf, Sean Casey promises to be a wonderful asset to the CJGA team.
“Golf is not taught, it’s learned. I do my best to steer them in the right direction, but ultimately they are in the driver's seat,” explains Casey. “I look at both golf and life with the same philosophy. Never stop learning and don't fear failure as it is an opportunity to move on smarter.” He promotes the importance of independence and confident decision making in working with junior golf hopefuls.
“I am excited to work closer with the CJGA,” says Casey. “I think both myself and those at the CJGA share a purpose of growing the game of golf and positively influencing kids.”
