MARKHAM, ON (August 6, 2008) – The Canadian Junior Golf Association (CJGA) is pleased to announce its team members for the 4th annual STEPHEN AMES CUP scheduled to run from August 13th to 15th at St. Andrew’s Golf Club in Port of Spain, Trinidad.

Ten junior golfers from the ages of 14 to 19 will represent CJGA Team Canada in the event hosted by PGA Tour Professional STEPHEN AMES.  The tournament takes on a Ryder Cup format with the Canadian side competing against a team from the Trinidad & Tobago Golf Association.

CJGA Team Canada holds a 2-1 lead in the overall series having won twice on home soil in 2005 and 2007.

Ames, a resident of Calgary, Alta. who was born in Trinidad & Tobago, initiated the tournament to provide junior golfers from both countries an opportunity to compete in a international event that promotes goodwill and sportsmanship between the two nations.  He will be on hand for all three days of the tournament.

Junior golfers who qualified for the team did so through a series of Nike Golf Junior Series qualifiers held across the country as part of the CJGA Junior Tour.

The team will depart for Trinidad on Saturday.
